Raven & wolf in the northern Wisconsin forest

I stopped along a country road to check some bear scat, and right above me perched in a tree was a very vocal raven. it is said that ravens will tell you where the wolves are, and this one spilled the beans. We heard wolves just a mile up the road.

In the northern forests of Wisconsin the wolf resides. This year there’s been a record amount of rainfall making this ecosystem extremely lush. I heard song birds, Sandhill crane, whiperwill, raven and timber wolf.

The Bird Sanctuary in northern Wisconsin is part of wolf country.   I journeyed north on Friday evening to conduct a wolf howl survey. The night sky was full of thirsty insects, and hungrier bats.
