Another step forward for change…

Wolves of Douglas County Wisconsin will host a Wild & Scenic Film Festival July 24, 2019. I’m working on securing the venue in the Minneapolis area, I’ve begun gathering support from sponsors. Plan B Foundation and The 06 Legacy are sponsors and if you want to become a sponsor or supporter send an email to wolvesdouglasco@gmail.com

I believe our native predators are being slaughtered in unethical hunting practices. I would like to educate, advocate and legislate to end wildlife killing contests. Therefore, my very first Film Festival will feature Project Coyote’s Documentary Film “Killing Games: Wildlife in the Crosshairs” and Camila Camilla Fox will be present to talk about her film and the National Coalition to End Wildlife Killing Contests. I’m proud to be one of the many organizations that are a part of this national coalition! Other panel members include Collette Adkins, Attorney for Center for Biological Diversity and Christine Coughlin, Minnesota Representative of the Humane Society of The United States will be joining Camila Fox for a Q&A after the screening.

The Film Festival will be about an hour and a half long comprised of environmental Documentary Film shorts, one I’ve already mentioned, and we are viewing Wild & Scenic Film Festival films to design our festival. Another film is “Canis Lupus Colorado” and I’ve viewed this film. This film is a “for sure” one to add to the line up.

I’m looking for volunteers, & sponsors, in northwestern Wisconsin and the Twin Cities surrounding area. It’s a Wild & Scenic Film Festival Presented by Wolves of Douglas County Wisconsin and I’m hoping to make this an annual Film Festival showcasing environmental films that inspire! I can’t do it alone so please send me an email wolvesdouglasco@gmail.com if you want to be a part of the Film.

  1. Greetings Rachel, My name is Kit Mayer and I live in La Crosse county Wisconsin. I am very interested in helping out with the film festival. I am both a huge fan of our wildlife/environment and a concerned citizen in regard to our collective disregard of the same. Maybe a slight bonus, I am a career designer in the theatre world doing both scenery and lighting. I know that may not connect directly with a film festival, but I am comfortable in the arena. I love what you’re doing with your site and appreciate the time and efforts you put into helping our state and its environment.

All the best and happy holidays, Kit
